Why So Mean

We talked about:

  • Are we the barrier to entry? Sometimes when people are just learning something they need to be encouraged, not slammed.
  • Should people just have thicker skin? "Assholes" produce amazing things and can teach us a lot if we can get over calling them assholes.
  • Giving free talks is not teaching
    • Possible session on Sunday on teaching methods
  • How can we engage "VB" developers more and include them in the community?
    • What do we mean when we say that anyway?

 

Action items:

  • Learn to be better teachers
  • Read:
    • "How to Win Friends and Influence People"
    • "The No Asshole Rule"
